Today, I would like to discuss Vitamin C.  Many people do not understand that Vitamin C is absolutely essential for good health.

Scurvy is the disease that results from a complete lack of Vitamin C. Thousands of sailors have died from scurvy over the centuries because their diet, while at sea for months, was totally deficient of Vitamin C.  You might think that only sailors at sea for an extended period are the only ones deficient.  Not so.  At our office we routinely test 1-4 people every day for a Vitamin C level in their urine.

Guess what?

Over 90% of all the urine Vitamin C tests performed are almost totally deficient of Vitamin C.

In this time of increased virus concern, it is well to remember that Vitamin C will attenuate or kill any virus if the concentration of Vitamin C is strong enough.

Subclinical scurvy is now recognized as a major cause of vascular disease.  Vitamin C is necessary in the production of collagen which is the main component of connective tissue, i.e. tendons, ligaments, cartilage, bones, fascia, etc.  Collagen is the most abundant protein in the human body making up approximately 35% of whole-body protein.

Almost all animals make their own Vitamin C and therefore do not need to consume it in their diet.  It would be very beneficial if we humans could make Vitamin C in our bodies as the animals do.  But we can’t.  It is but one of the 37-45 “Growth and Maintenance Chemicals” you need every day to stay alive and healthy.

Do you have an adequate vitamin C level? Call us for a Vitamin C test.
